With more then 97 million people, HeNan is now China’s most populous province, in total area it’s 160,000 Square Kilometers (62,000 Square Miles), lying in the middle reaches of the Yellow River (Huang He) flood plains, HeNan is considered as the cradle of Chinese civilization.
And has seen 3 of its cities as National Capitals - AnYang in 1700-1200 BC; LuoYang in 25-265 AD, 265-316 AD, & 926-936 AD; and KaiFeng in 936-1127 AD; and to this day all 3 are still going strong along with ZhengZhou the province's capital.
HeNan is also home to the legendry ShaoLin Monastery, or the ShaoLin School of Martial Arts (ShaoLin kung fu) located on ShaoShi Mountain part of Song Shan (mountain range).
For its neighbors, HeNan shares borders with HeBei, ShanXi, ShaanXi, HuBei, AnHui, and ShanDong.
