What can you say about Hong Kong that has not been already said – a mixture of Western Order combined with Eastern Anarchy but it all works together. Hong Kong is still the major Gate Way into China, it’s still the International Hub for other parts of the world, for cheap air-fares it’s still one of the best places to get good deals. Hotels are the most expensive when compared to the rest of China and for bargain shoppers it lags behind China as “everything” now comes from China – just cross the border into ShenZhen, DongGuan and GuangZhou in neighboring GuangDong and you’ll know what I mean.
But still Hong Kong has that age long mystique and uniqueness that can only happen after so many years of British rule – European influence mixed with centuries old Chinese culture.
And there is still joy in riding the top carriage on those rambling old double decker Hong Kong trams passing the local hustle & bustle, pungent & sweet smells that only Cantonese cooking delivers, stopping at market stalls & alley ways and at night just “light glazing” at all the neon.
