JiLin Province sandwiched between HeiLongJiang & LiaoNing were all collectively known as Manchuria by Westerners, during the Japanese occupation (1931-45), ChangChun was also made Capital of Japanese ruled Manchukuo.
With over 27 million people and a total area of 187,400 Square Kilometers (72,355 Square Miles) JiLin today is a blend of industrial dullness mixed with cultural & scenic delights of dense forests and vast grasslands with its wide varieties of plants & herbs and birds & animals.
For visitors JiLin is known for its Ice Lantern Festival held every year around October and for its winter sports, there by JiLin has the best ski resorts in China.
