It is easy to get to Songpan from Chengdu with plenty of buses, Songpan is good for a stop for 2-3 nights, there’s horsing trekking, camping and monasteries to explore and Tibetan foods to try.
Moving on to Langmusi, which is a smaller Xiahe (in Gansu) in looks and feel, however when you arrive in Langmusi Village you will notice that it is split in two by a rapidly gushing creek, making this the only town like this in the China, where the northern side is in Gansu and the southern side in Sichuan.
There is also a monastery on the Gansu side and one on the Sichuan side too, with each belonging to different buddhist sects.
